Toto unveiled as eighth IOIG mascot

Toto the black parrot has been chosen as the mascot for the eight Indian Ocean Island Games which Seychelles will host from August 5 to 14 next year.

The mascot, which will entertain the crowd and help to create a friendly atmosphere throughout the games, was officially unveiled during a ceremony on Thursday at the Roche Caïman sports complex in the presence of the minister responsible for sports, Vincent Meriton.

Also present were principal secretary for youth, sports and culture Denis Rose, chief executive of the National Sports Council Alain Volcère, president of the Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association Antonio Gopal and members of the games’ organising committee.

The mascot was unveiled by reigning Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year Lindy Leveau-Agricole and Steve Malcouzane.
It has been designed by artist Aubrey Adeline and was chosen from a total of 12 entries.
Mr Adeline received R25,000 and a certificate.
